Jigoku(Hell - 1960):
Or...My College Chum Mephistopheles, and Why Food Safety Matters
I saw this several years ago. We own it now. My recollection of it was "Oh, the bad fish movie.". A lot happens before it gets to the bad fish. A lot more happens after it gets to the bad fish.
College student Shirô has just gotten engaged to his sweetheart Yukiko, who is also his professor's daughter. He has a (imaginary?)friend(?)/college roommate Tamura, who seems to be studying for a degree in yakuza thuggery with a minor in devil worship.
An accident leads to a misdeed, which has a tragic butterfly effect on Shirô, and everyone around him. He has two love interests in the course of the story, confusingly played by the same actress(Utako Mitsuya).
All are destined for a vivid journey through Hell.

Yes, Minister:
I just finished the third disc. I should have had the second one on the last list, but forgot it somehow. I forget so many things anymore.
My favorite episodes from the second and third discs:
The Devil You Know
A Question of Loyalty
Equal Opportunities
The Skeleton in the Cupboard

The Man in the White Suit(1951):
It was fun to watch Alec Guinness and Michael Gough in this. Alec Guinness plays a chemist who invents an amazing new fabric that never wrinkles, wears out, or stains.
His invention is praised by his bosses at first, but ultimately draws the ire of the heads of the textile industry, various mill owners, labor unions, and even a poor old laundress. He gets a stern dressing down from the latter while being chased through the streets by all of the former.
The titular suit comes to an end before the movie does. No explanation is given. The suit is fine until it isn't, leaving a disappointing hole in the story.
Fun chemistry lab doo-dads, and a great scene involving the installation of an electron microscope, but my favorite visual occurs at 1:07:25 accompanied by the line "There is no panic here whatsoever.".
