The Feet of the Matter
Jun. 21st, 2019 05:24 pmJust in case anyone needs to know this:
If you speak to me in person you might notice me staring at your feet. It's not because I have a foot fetish. Although I could be admiring your footwear, and wondering if it comes in my size, it's usually not the case. Looking down or otherwise averting my gaze during a conversation helps me hear better. The words are easier to follow. The information is easier to process and retain. Facial expressions can be overly distracting. This is true for both trying to read the other person's emotion/intent, and worrying about controlling my own.
So, if you should catch me staring at your feet, I'm not judging your fashion sense, nor am I speculating about your income/profession or sexual preferences.
